The Chemistry Gallery was awarded Art Prague Young Award 2009 at VIII. fair of contemporary art Art Prague 2009 (www.artprague.cz). Art Prague Young Award is being awarded annualy at the occassion of opening vernissage of Art Prague – art fair of contemporary art held in Prague in Mánes Gallery. The award is given to artists below age of 35 whose works are shown at the fair. The Chemistry Gallery was awarded this award as all the artists presented by the gallery (both at the fair and also in general) are below the age of 35 so the jury of the award decided to appreciate concept of The Chemistry Gallery rather than give the award to one particular artist from this age category.
The jury that picked the winner of Art Prague Young Award 2009 consisted of: Michael Rittstein – painter and head of atelier at Prague University of Fine Arts, Leoš Válka – director of DOX Prague – center for contemporary art, Milan Jaroš – member of Art Prague o.s. and a painter and Marina Votrubová – project manager of Art Banking – service provided by UniCredit Bank that is the main partner of the art fair. Contemporary art fair Art Prague was taking place in Mánes Gallery from 18.6.2009 till 23.6.2009. The fair presented 30 galleries from all over the Czech Republic but also galleries from Berlin, Lyon, Amsterdam or Freiburg.
